Jeanie Welch – Director and Certified Practising Speech Pathologist
Jeanie has over 16 years’ experience in paediatric speech pathology, spanning across private practice, mainstream schools, special schools and childcare centres as well as working in a special unit for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the United Kingdom. She has experience working with children covering all aspects of their communication development. Jeanie is a Hanen Certified Speech Pathologist, trained in It Takes Two To Talk and More Than Words programs. She has undertaken postgraduate training in the management of speech sound disorders, ankyloglossia (tongue tie) and paediatric feeding. She has completed courses on Teaching Critical Communication Skills and Picture Exchange Communication Systems (level 1). Jeanie is certified to train parents in the 1-2-3 Magic and Emotion Coaching program as well as the No Scaredy Cats program to reduce anxiety and build resilience in children. She is trained in the Little Learners Love Literacy program. Jeanie is trained to deliver effective speech pathology services via telehealth. She has a special interest in working with children with speech, language and literacy difficulties and those needing help with school readiness. Jeanie is passionate about bringing out the best in all the children she works with. Jeanie is available in our Williamstown office and for telehealth consultations.
Mietta Bruhn – Certified Practising Speech Pathologist
Mietta completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences in 2015 and a Masters of Speech Pathology in 2017 at La Trobe University. Since graduating, Mietta has been working with children in private practice, covering various aspects of speech and language development. She has completed training in best practice management of speech sound disorders and infant feeding foundations. She is trained to use the Little Learners Love Literacy program. She has also completed additional training on Social Thinking, emotional regulation and working with children on the Autism Spectrum. Mietta has completed training on conducting speech pathology sessions effectively via telehealth. Mietta is particularly interested in working with children with speech sound disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder and feeding issues. Mietta works well with parents and children alike to optimise outcomes for her clients. Mietta is available in our Sydenham clinic and for telehealth appointments.
Melissa Shiberras – Certified Practising Speech Pathologist
Melissa completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Speech Pathology in 2018. Since graduating, Melissa has been working in private practice assisting children to achieve their goals across a variety of developmental areas. Melissa has completed additional training in the Little Learners Love Literacy program, infant feeding foundations and understanding self regulation. She has completed additional courses on providing effective speech pathology sessions via telehealth. Melissa is interested in working with late talkers, literacy development, children with feeding issues, as well as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Melissa works with childrens’ interests to gain optimal outcomes. Melissa is available in our Sydenham clinic and for telehealth consultations.
Jennifer Hill – Certified Practising Speech Pathologist
Jennifer completed a Masters of Speech Pathology at the University of Melbourne in 2015. Since graduating, Jennifer has worked at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, at the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre, as well as with children in special school and private practice settings. She has experience supporting various aspects of speech, language and communication development. She has completed training in the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS Level 1), the PODD Augmentative/Alternative Communication system, and the DIR Floortime model. She is also completing further training on teaching critical communication skills.
Jennifer is particularly interested in working with and supporting children with speech sound disorders, language and literacy delays and disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is committed to ongoing, lifelong learning, and is passionate about conducting engaging sessions with a focus on the individual child’s needs. Jennifer is available in our Sydenham clinic and for telehealth appointments.
